This painting won fist place from a show put on by our county. The theme was to ruse and manage waste in a earth friendly way. I had painted a mural for Walmart, and Southern Wesleyan University I had kept the paint that had dried on my palette each day. I also used old kitchen curtains on the painting. Both made the painting two dimensional and interesting. I had seen a photo in a magazine and the story reminded me of my grandmother and her sisters. Growing up they all had chores and worked to keep home, farm and their terribly busy lives going. The young lady holding the reigns loves working outside and taking care of the animals. The eldest, resting holding the hoe. She is boss. She does the cooking and will oversee the canning and the smoke house. The youngest just wishes she could go down to the creek, step in knee high, and feel a cool breeze of the water.
